Against anti-Semitism and for Jewish life in Germany
2023-11-02 Lüüneburg. The Senate of Leuphana University Lüneburg opposes all forms of anti-Semitism and strongly supports a safe Jewish life in Germany. The Senate has now expressed this unanimously in view of the brutal attacks on Israel by Hamas, the recent anti-Semitic riots and attacks on Jewish institutions in Germany and anti-Semitic statements in public discourse in Germany.
Leuphana stands for freedom, openness to the world, solidarity, peaceful coexistence and the strength of the rule of law and democracy. The university will use all the means at its disposal to defend these values and to make its contribution to them in research and teaching.
As a matter of principle, Leuphana University Lüneburg deals with social discourses and topics in formats customary in science. With regard to the current situation in the Middle East, for example, in the form of an interview with Prof. Dr. Tobias Lenz on the terror of Hamas or in the context of an event on "Fighting Hamas in Gaza - a classification under international law" coordinated by Prof. Dr. Lars Berster and Prof. Dr. Till Patrik Holterhus. Further events will follow.
