Leuphana Professor Dörte Mody to Join the KEF
2026-05-20 Lüneburg/Hanover. As the State Chancellery of Lower Saxony has now announced, Professor Dr. Dörte Mody of Leuphana University of Lüneburg will serve as Lower Saxony’s representative on the Commission for Determining the Financial Needs of Broadcasters (KEF). The state government made this decision at its cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
Dörte Mody is an expert in international accounting and tax law and a member of the examination board for certified public accountants. She will serve on the 16-member committee as an expert in the field of auditing and management consulting. Her five-year term begins on January 1, 2027.

Background
The KEF consists of 16 independent experts. They come from the fields of auditing and management consulting, business administration, broadcasting law, media economics and media studies, broadcasting technology, and state audit offices.
Each federal state appoints one member. The KEF is tasked with reviewing and determining the financial requirements submitted by the broadcasters from a technical perspective. The members will be appointed by the state premiers during the Conference of State Premiers on June 25, 2026.
