100th podcast published:Alumni help with choosing a degree program
2024-08-14 Lüneburg. The use of podcasts as a source of information is booming. Experience reports play a major role for prospective students when it comes to choosing a degree course. So why not let graduates talk about their studies and career entry in podcasts? Leuphana University Lüneburg has now published its 100th podcast with former students who talk about their jobs at Netflix, SPIEGEL, Instagram or Google and about their own start-ups.
Leuphana is pursuing two goals with its "Karriere leupht" project: On the one hand, it wants to use the podcast service to maintain contact with its graduates by taking an interest in their experiences and career paths. On the other hand, it wants to respond to the needs of prospective students. According to a nationwide media usage analysis conducted by Leuphana, prospective students trust the assessments and reports of alumni when choosing their degree program. According to the study, 56% of respondents use recommendations from alumni and students and 74% have obtained information about degree programs via smartphone.
Project initiator Philip Dunkhase recognized the potential of podcasts early on: "In the study orientation phase, Generation Alpha students obtain most of their information online and are increasingly using podcast formats via various apps. Universities need to respond to this change in demand."
In the episodes published so far, graduates of 'Magister', diploma, bachelor's and master's degree courses talk about their experiences and career paths. Alumni from Leuphana's part-time degree courses also have their say. The podcast series is available on all relevant podcast platforms.
