Research Fellow (PhD)
(Main Focus: Psychology, Negotiation, Sustainability)
(Salary group 13 TV-L, 60%, starting as soon as possible, for a duration of 3 years)
The research group in the Department of Social, Organizational, and Political Psychology uses different research foci to investigate negotiation-specific decision-making processes in the context of economic, social, and political conflicts of interest. Current research projects focus on: (1) mental accounting of multi-dimensional outcomes; (2) intra- and interpersonal conflicts as barriers to effective negotiation outcomes; (3) resource allocation under dynamic and uncertain conditions.
The open position offers the opportunity to pursue a doctorate (PhD) and focuses on the field of psychology at the intersection of sustainability and deals with joint decision-making processes in social-interactive decision-making contexts (e.g., negotiations). One possible research direction lies in the question of how decision-makers weigh trade-offs between economic, ecological, and social outcome dimensions: How are the various outcome dimensions perceived? Are specific trade-offs systematically preferred? To what extent does the social-interactive decision-making process influence the weighing of different outcome dimensions?
In light of the research conducted by the working group, applicants should have a particular interest in social psychological processes (e.g., perspective taking, social identity, decision-making and deliberation processes, risk behaviour, future orientation).
In accordance with this focus, both teaching and scientific support will be provided in the research areas of the professorship. The position is initially limited to 3 years. The opportunity for a personal scientific qualification (doctorate) is available and encouraged.
Your tasks:
- Conceptual design and teaching of courses comprising 2.4 SWS including the assessment of corresponding examinations, e.g., in the field of social and environmental psychology
- Collaboration in the research areas of the professorship, in particular independent empirical data collection for (social-interactive) decision-making research, dissemination of research results through national and international conference contributions, the organization of workshops, and writing publications
- Personal academic qualification (doctorate)
- Active participation in university self-administration
Your profile:
- Completed university degree with above-average grades in Psychology (master’s degree or equivalent)
- Experience in and knowledge of psychological research, as well as fundamental skills in quantitative statistics are expected
- Experience in experimental research in the field of social psychology or related fields of psychology is an advantage
- Ability to work independently and flexibly in interdisciplinary contexts
