Role: teaching assistant

Suni e.V. is a non-governmental organisation to improve the learning and living conditions of vulnerable children and young adults in the Omaheke region in Namibia. We aim to contribute to a better world with our projects. At our Namibian partner schools, our volunteers support the local staff by teaching in small groups - in consultation with the teacher - or by helping weaker pupils in particular.


If you are adventurous, patient, dedicated and creative, speak English fluently and are experienced in working with young children or young adults, then this position is for you!

General information

8 - 10 unpaid internships available per year. Best start times at the beginning of school terms: January, May and September. SPS1: no

A minimum stay of three months is required.

Participation in preparation and follow-up workshops is expected.

Duties

You will:

  •  Assist teachers during lessons
  •  Teach small groups of students
  •  Organise specific projects/workshops (e.g. sports, crafts, ...)

You should hand in your application at least 5 - 6 months prior to your preferred start date.

Costs

There is no participation fee. You will have to pay for your flight, visa, food, an insurance. Once you have arrived, you should budget around €100 per month in spending money (more if you want to regularly spend weekends in Windhoek or Gobabis)

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided (bed, toilet, shower, cooker, ... )
