REWIRE: RECONFIGURABLE WIRELESS AND AI-SUPPORTED SENSOR PLATFORM FOR PRODUCTION MACHINES

©NBank

REWIRE develops a reconfigurable, wireless, and AI-supported sensor platform that enables small and medium-sized enterprises to retrofit existing production machines in a simple, efficient, and future-proof way. The focus is on condition monitoring for industrial systems as a basis for predictive maintenance, reduced unplanned downtime, and more sustainable production.

At the heart of the platform is an adaptive inductive power and data transfer system. It ensures stable power supply and reliable communication even under vibration, changing coupling conditions, and varying rotational speeds. This is complemented by an AI-based co-design system that automatically evaluates and structures technical documents, machine data, and image information, transforming them into integration-ready sensor and housing concepts.

As a result, REWIRE significantly reduces engineering effort in retrofit scenarios and accelerates the path from requirements to deployment-ready solutions. The modular platform is validated together with the industry partner in industrial pilot environments and implemented along a complete end-to-end workflow – from requirements extraction, knowledge modeling, and data processing to automated CAD geometry generation.

Through workshops, demonstrators, and open software components, REWIRE strengthens transfer between industry and academia. The project supports regional SMEs in increasing their competitiveness, reducing energy consumption, and sustainably modernizing existing production systems.
