COP30 Panel Discussion: The Future of Climate Policy

The 30th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is scheduled for November 2025. Against the backdrop of intensifying climate impacts worldwide, multilateral and coordinated climate action is more important than ever. The international community will therefore be closely observing the COP30 negotiations in Belém, situated in the Brazilian Amazon.

The current developments in world politics and climate governance will be discussed on 22 October 2025 at LeuphanaUniversity in Lüneburg. Moderated by Maren Solmecke (Joachim-Herz-Promotionskolleg), the event will explore the expectations surrounding COP30 from the perspectives of science, civil society, and the host country. Our speakers will present current initiatives and share their insights on the upcoming conference.
