The Future of Graduate Education
Network Meeting of the North German Graduate Schools
15. May
On 15 May 2025, the Graduate School of Leuphana University Lüneburg will host the network meeting ‘The Future of Graduate Education’. Organised by Dr Anna Sundermann (DigiTaL-SP9) and Gitte Köllner (DigiTaL-SP6), among others, the event will bring together around 30 academics and representatives from northern German universities to discuss innovative concepts and strategic developments in graduate education.
The focus is on practical approaches and current challenges in graduate funding. Key topics such as research ethics, future skills, mental health and the internationalisation of qualification programmes will be addressed in various lectures, discussion formats and a workshop:
- The Good Scientist – Dr Anna Sundermann (Leuphana) presents a blended learning programme on good scientific practice that systematically introduces doctoral students to research ethics.
- Navigating the Future – Gitte Köllner (Leuphana) presents a reflexive teaching concept that strengthens future skills and digital competence.
- Mental Health & Wellbeing – Karoline von Hahn (TU Braunschweig) discusses support services for doctoral candidates.
- International target groups – Dr Sandra Wienand et al. (Oldenburg) discuss the opening of qualification programmes for a broader international academic community.
- Workshop – Dr Nelly Schubert & Dr Bettina Roß (Göttingen) invite you to exchange experiences on qualification requirements.
The network meeting is being organised by Gitte Köllner from DigiTaL sub-project 6 'Skills for a digital future' and Dr. Anna Sundermann from DigiTaL sub-project 9 'Digital teaching and learning formats for the internationalisation of the Master's and doctoral phase'. As part of the transfer concept of the DigiTaL project, the event is part of the multiplier series, with which the results of the DigiTaL project will be presented at Leuphana and beyond.
