Seminar „Transformation, Anticipation, Imagination and the Law“
22. Oct - 23. Oct
The seminar “Transformation, Anticipation, Imagination and the Law”, directed by Dr Michael Kalis (link), will take place on 22 and 23 October 2025 at Leuphana University Lüneburg. The event will focus on the role of law in relation to fundamental social transformation processes. Particular attention will be paid to possible future developments and the challenge of addressing the associated uncertainties from a legal standpoint. Conversely, it will also explore how the law can serve as an instrument for turning imaginations into reality, thereby effectively steering transformation processes.
Dr Michael Kalis is Deputy Scientific Director of the Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility e.V. (link). He studied law at the European University Viadrina and the University of Luxembourg. He then completed his doctorate at the University of Greifswald, researching issues of justiciable climate protection in Germany and national climate lawsuits. In the winter semester of 2025/26, he will be a visiting scholar at Leuphana University Lüneburg.
