Update 7 April 2020 on face masks

2020-04-07 The Robert Koch Institute has updated its recommendations for the wearing of mouth and nose protection on 03.04.2020: The most important and effective measures to protect oneself and others against infection with Covid-19 continue to be good hand hygiene, adherence to rules for coughing and sneezing and keeping a distance (at least 1.5 metres).

By wearing mouth-nose protection (MNS) or a textile barrier in the sense of an MNS (so-called mouth-nose covers), people suffering from Covid-19 can reduce the risk of infecting other people (foreign protection). However, infections are not always recognized by those who are ill. If people cannot maintain a safe distance when entering public spaces (e.g. in public transport or in food stores), the spread of the disease can be reduced by wearing a mouth-nose cover as a precaution. Under no circumstances should the wearing of a mouth-nose-cover lead to the fact that rules of distance are no longer observed or that coughing and sneezing rules or hand hygiene are no longer observed. Please do not use medical (surgical) mouth-nose protection or medical respirators (e.g. FFP masks), as this material is urgently needed for medical and nursing purposes.

If you have any questions, please contact the occupational safety department.
