Information on traveling to the university from risk areas within Germany

2020-10-20 In the current situation, it is our common goal to be able to carry out research, teaching and studies as well as all other activities for the university under consequent observance of the distance and hygiene regulations as far as possible in presence. This goal remains unchanged from the point of view of the Presidential Committee. However, today, in the vicinity of Lüneburg, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg also exceeded the incidence value of 50 confirmed coronavirus infection cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. The situation in the district of Lüneburg, on the other hand, is currently (still) favorable with an incidence value of 7,1. However, we can see in many places how unstable the current situation is.

Against this background the Presidential Committee would like to inform you:

  1. As long as the regulations of the state of Lower Saxony or the district of Lüneburg do not contradict this, you can continue to come to the campus for work or study, even if you come from a domestic risk area.

  2. However, the Presidential Committee asks you, as before, to consider responsibly on the basis of your individual behavior and your individual risk provision whether you are actually coming to the university from a risk area. If your personal presence on campus is not absolutely necessary for your work or studies and digital alternatives exist - i.e. if you can do your work from home or attend courses digitally - we would like to encourage you to avoid being on campus and to do your work and tasks from home if possible. We know that this often means additional efforts or restrictions, but in this case we ask you to make the best use of digital possibilities.

  3. Please continue to note the the regulations for students and for other members of the university on handling and prevention of the coronavirus.

The Presidential Committee - as already expressed several times - would like to thank you once again for your continued care and joint efforts to prevent a further spread of the infection.
