Leuphana takes on a key role in digital university teaching

2024-10-10 Lüneburg/Hannover. Teachers and students at universities in Lower Saxony are to be optimally prepared for the didactic and technological challenges of digital teaching and learning. To this end, the state-wide joint project "Digitale Lehre Hub Niedersachsen" is now being launched as part of the "Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen" initiative. The Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation will be providing more than 25 million euros in funding for the project over the next four years. Leuphana University Lüneburg is coordinating the sub-project "Cooperation of Services in the Field of Digital Teaching (Media Didactics)".

The new joint project aims to create cross-university synergies and establish sustainable structures for promoting digital teaching. The sub-project coordinated by Leuphana, in which all 20 state universities in Lower Saxony are involved, is a "core project" and the interface for all sub-projects in the Digital Teaching Hub. This gives Leuphana a key role in building the university.digital Lower Saxony.

Dr. Julia Webersik from Leuphana is leading the sub-project. She describes the future collaboration as follows: "The focus is on developing joint consulting, support and qualification services, as well as testing digital learning technology and piloting innovative teaching and learning concepts." The aim is to make media didactic services more accessible and to improve the quality of digital teaching.

Leuphana is also involved in other sub-projects of the "Digital Teaching Hub Lower Saxony", for example on the topic of "AI in studies, teaching and examinations" or in the "Emerging Tech Lab" on innovative technologies that are still in development.
