2022 Mar: Bayesian Workflow Workshop

About the Workshop

This one-day workshop treats Bayesian linear (mixed-effect) modeling as well as Bayes factor null hypothesis tests. It discusses a workflow for how conduct such analyses in the cognitive sciences, and shows how to code an example analysis in R (using brms).

About the instructor

Daniel Schad is professor for Quantitative Methods at the Health and Medical University of Potsdam. Before, he has been assistant professor for Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Tilburg (Netherlands) and has held research positions at the Charité and the University of Potsdam, where he also got is Ph. D in 2013.

Recommended readings



We will be using the software R, and RStudio, so make sure you install these on your computer. You should also install the R package rstan (https://github.com/stan-dev/rstan/wiki/RStan-Getting-Started); the R package brms (https://github.com/paul-buerkner/brms). Please follow the installation instructions carefully.
Install the library bcogsci from here (https://github.com/bnicenboim/bcogsci).

You should have the R-packages tidyverse and lme4 installed.


The workshop will be held online via Zoom.
You can register for the workshop by sending an email to buero-ifp@leuphana.de until March 21st.
The workshop is open for all faculty, postdocs, PhD-students, Master students and Bachelor students from Leuphana University. We have up to 25 slots, which will be given away on a first-come-first-serve basis.
