Information for program advisory board members

The quality of the courses offered at Leuphana is continuously developed. To this end, the university sets up a programme advisory board for each study programme, which is composed of representatives from academia and professional practice, as well as external students.

Tasks of the program advisory boards

The program advisory boards support the study program directors. They advise on the further development of the content and evaluate the program as part of the internal review process with regard to the appropriateness of the subject matter, the practical implementation of the curriculum, the compatibility of the program with other programs, as well as the resources and quality development.
For this purpose, the members of a program advisory board receive information about the study program in the form of a written self-report and are invited to critically and constructively discuss its objectives, realization and development with those responsible on site.

your expertise

Leuphana establishes independent program advisory boards for all study programs and cross-disciplinary program elements.
The members of a program advisory board are appointed by the Presidential Board at the suggestion of the program director.

A program advisory board usually consists of:

  • at least two members from academia and research
  • at least one member from professional practice
  • at least one external student.

Leuphana selects representatives from science and professional practice with a high reputation in their field and, if possible, experience in leading positions. The student member should have experience in a comparable study program at another university.

Meetings of the program advisory boards

The dates of the advisory board meetings (on-site or online) are coordinated between the members of the program advisory board and the persons responsible for the study programs. As a rule, program advisory boards meet approximately every eight years for an evaluation as part of reaccreditation. Additional meetings are possible if there are significant changes to the study program or if advice is needed on further developing the content.

Statement on the study program

At the meeting of the program advisory board, a written statement on the study program is drafted. This should not exceed five pages and is usually already drafted during the advisory board meeting. The program advisory board's statement is incorporated into a comprehensive review report as part of the internal review process. A summary of the audit result is published on the Leuphana website. The names of the members of the program advisory board are mentioned and their recommendations are briefly outlined.

cost absorption

Leuphana will reimburse the members of the program advisory board for travel, accommodation and hospitality costs. Further information and a form for the reimbursement of your expenses will be sent to you with the invitation to the advisory board meeting.

We would be delighted to welcome you to Leuphana soon!
