Serving the environment: Working for a “Zero Pollution Ambition” at the German Environment Agency

[LECTURE] Dr. Lena Vierke holds a doctorate in environmental science and works at the German Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt, UBA). There, she is active in the field of chemicals and in the area of international relations, particularly contacts with EU institutions. Her current work focuses on the European chemicals regulation REACH, the substance group of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS), and, under the headline “Zero Pollution Ambition,” policy advice on pollution. Furthermore, Lena Vierke is involved in the work on the transformation of the chemicals industry at the agency.

In this career forum, which is being organized in collaboration with 23grad eV, she will talk about her career path and the practical experience that was helpful to her during her studies. She will also provide insights into her daily work at the German Environment Agency and the tasks involved. We look forward to an exciting discussion and your questions.
