Advisory Board

The quality of the courses offered at Leuphana is continuously being developed. To this end, the university has set up a programme advisory board for each degree programme, consisting of representatives from academia and professional practice as well as external students.

Tasks of the programme advisory boards

The programme advisory boards support the study programme coordinators. They advise on further development of the content and evaluate the programme as part of the internal review process with regard to the appropriateness of the subject matter, the practical implementation of the curriculum, compatibility, equipment and quality development.
To this end, the members of a programme advisory board receive information about the study programme in the form of a written self-report and are invited to engage in critical and constructive discussion with those responsible on site about its objectives, implementation and development.

Expertise

Leuphana establishes independent programme advisory boards for all study programmes and cross-disciplinary study programme elements.

The members of a programme advisory board are appointed by the Executive Board on the recommendation of the person responsible for the programme.

A programme advisory board usually consists of:

  • at least two members from academia and research
  • at least one member from professional practice
  • at least one external student.

Leuphana is looking for representatives from academia and professional practice with a high reputation in their field and, if possible, experience in leadership positions for the respective programme advisory boards. The student member should have experience in a comparable study programme at another university.

Programme Advisory Board meetings

The dates of the Advisory Board meetings (on-site or online) are agreed between the members of the Programme Advisory Board and those responsible for the study programmes. As a rule, Programme Advisory Boards meet approximately every eight years for review as part of the reaccreditation process. Additional meetings may be held in the event of significant changes to the study programme or if advice is required on further developments in terms of content.

Statement on the study programme

During the programme advisory board meeting, a written statement on the study programme is drafted. This should not exceed five pages in length and is usually drafted during the advisory board meeting. The statement of the programme advisory board is incorporated into a comprehensive assessment report as part of the internal review process. A summary of the review results will be published on the Leuphana website. The names of the members of the programme advisory board will be mentioned and their recommendations briefly outlined.

Cost Coverage

Leuphana will reimburse members of the Programme Advisory Board for travel, accommodation and hospitality expenses. Further information and a form for reimbursement of your expenses will be provided with the invitation to the Advisory Board meeting.
