System Surveys

The main aim of the university-wide surveys is to find out more about why students choose to study at Leuphana, how satisfied they are with the teaching, their degree programme and the general conditions, what they do after graduation, and where they go on to work. The results of the surveys are used, for example, in the study programmes’ quality circles, in the internal review procedures for (re-)accreditation, and in the Schools’ strategy and annual meetings on quality assurance and development.

This website presents and explains the various types of surveys conducted as part of the system surveys.

System surveys

The design and analysis of the university-wide surveys are based on the university student lifecycle. The university-wide surveys currently used at Leuphana University include:

  • Mid-term Surveys (surveys of current students),
  • Graduation Surveys (surveys of former students),
  • Alumni Surveys (surveys of graduates approximately 3–5 years after graduation)

The respective sample is invited to participate via an email containing a personalised access link to the online survey. The results of the individual surveys are incorporated, amongst other things, into the degree programme-specific quality circles and serve as a starting point for analysing the strengths and weaknesses of a degree programme, as well as for designing appropriate follow-up measures to further develop study and teaching. The procedures are also described in the Executive Board’s guidelines on quality development in study and teaching.
