Diversity Day 2023: Disability and low barriers
2023-05-23 Physical and mental disabilities are manifold. With this year's Diversity Day on 23 May 2023, the Equal Opportunities Office would like to raise awareness of visible and invisible handicaps. There are various offers for those interested.
"Many physical or mental limitations are not immediately visible," says Florentine Haack from the Equality Office. This applies, for example, to chronic or mental illnesses. The team thinks broadly about the motto of this year's Diversity Day. "Disability and accessibility" should apply to all groups with limitations: from wheelchair users to people with a hearing impairment or those affected by depression. "We would like to see an open and sensitive approach and sensitise people to listen and believe in each other," says Florentine Haack.
There are various open offers around Diversity Day: The workshop "Visual impairment, and then?" takes place in cooperation with the Advisory Council for People with Disabilities Hanseatic City and District of Lüneburg and the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Lower Saxony. The event is on 23 May 2023 from 1 to 3 pm and from 3.30 to 5.30 pm in C16.204.
On 23 May 2023 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. there will be the "Bad Box" action by diversu e.V. in front of Building 9. The anti-discrimination office deals with various forms of exclusion.
The campus tour "Barrier-free" on 24 May 2023 starts at 12 noon and lasts until 1.30 pm. Those interested will meet in front of the refectory.
