Frozen Ground Truths

19.11.2024 19.11. / 12–2 pm / C40.530 / Climate Futures Talk with Susan Schuppli (Goldsmiths University of London / Board Chair of Forensic Architecture)

Artist and researcher Susan Schuppli, Director and Professor at the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, will talk about her research in regions covered by perpetual ice. Her multi-year research project LEARNING FROM ICE examines how different knowledge practices – from ice core research and glaciology to indigenous traditions, local observation, activism, politics and law – engage with the material conditions of ice. Focusing on cryospheric environments in the Canadian Arctic, the Svalbard archipelago and the Hindu Kush Himalayas, the project consists of a series of documentary films, fieldwork and workshops with scientists and students.
