myPortfolio
myPortfolio (based on the Mahara software) is used to create e-portfolios. E-portfolios are web-based portfolios or folders in which learning progress and results can be recorded (also as videos, blogs, or audio files). They facilitate the presentation of learning, reflection, and production processes and offer various possibilities for collaboration.
- Flexible compilation of documents and media
- Store and manage these artefacts
- Share content with specified groups of participants, e.g. learning groups, individual teachers and/or all interested students
- Feedback and commenting facilities, e.g. peer-to-peer or by teachers and other students
- Create templates that can be shared with students, for example, to specify the structure of an exam
- Locking a portfolio to prevent further editing: This turns the portfolio into a performance report that can be graded.
E-portfolios can be used as a learning and assessment method in individual courses as well as throughout a programme. myPortfolio not only offers lecturers the opportunity to provide content. The students themselves can also use the platform as a personal learning and working environment and customise it. The use of e-portfolio enhances media literacy and sensitises for topics of digital literacy.
- Reflecting on individual learning processes, developments, and procedures – on this basis, systematically improving weaknesses, building on strengths and analysing results
- Visualising developments and progress over a longer period of time (not just the final result)
- Documenting learning progress regardless of location in more self-learning or practice-orientated study phases
- Staying in touch with the teacher, receiving feedback from teachers and other students and giving formative feedback
- Using the documentation for lifelong learning and as a content link at the transition studies to subsequent professional fields.
An overview of the functions and possible uses can be found in this video (German only).
The Teaching Service organises regular meetings in the myPortfolio-Network for lecturers at Leuphana. You can find more information about this on our website on networks for teaching staff.
