The Lab

The DigiTaL project promotes the development and reflection of teaching innovations by creating new spaces for interaction. These serve professional development, strategic progress and the exchange and consolidation of knowledge gained in the laboratory. Particular emphasis is placed on the critical reflection of digital teaching outcomes from the semesters during the Covid19 pandemic. The resulting innovations will be continuously developed in line with Leuphana's educational aspirations and self-image.

The challenge for the Digital Transformation Lab for Teaching and Learning is to raise the specific goals of the individual subprojects to a common, strategic level in order to advance digital teaching at Leuphana as a whole. A multi-level model, in which the clusters work on their thematic focuses and network with each other, avoids fragmentation of the overall project.

At the centre of the teaching development project is the lab concept of the Digital Transformation Lab for Teaching and Learning and thus the provision of a collaborative forum and new interaction spaces for the development of digital teaching projects within Leuphana.

The Digital Transformation Lab for Teaching and Learning (DigiTaL) is characterised by the active participation of internal and external experts, teaching staff and students. Regular meetings, which take place several times a month, promote an open exchange between the employees of all subprojects regarding their current work status. The annual closed conference focuses on the joint implementation and sustainable integration of the project results into the university curriculum. In addition, the overall project meetings, which also take place annually, enable all participants to present their results and discuss challenges together. These meetings also offer the opportunity to incorporate and consider perspectives from the professorial level.

In addition to their work in the sub-projects, the employees pursue overarching thematic goals in the clusters ‘Digital Teaching-Learning Innovations’, ‘Data & Digital Literacy Education’ and ‘Digital Internationalisation’. At the strategic level, cluster patrons support the cluster work with their specialist expertise. The Cluster Strategy Group and the Strategic Advisory Board coordinate the cluster objectives with Leuphana's strategic developments. In close cooperation with the cluster development teams, consisting of representatives of the sub-projects and, if necessary, other colleagues from the university's thematic environment, the cluster objectives are to be realised in the long term and consolidated within the university.
