Campus Expert Talk: Rethinking Economy
Economy and Science in Dialogue
2025-06-18 How can transformation processes in the world of work and business be successfully shaped? What role do strategic alliances, new guiding principles and technological developments play? These and other questions were the focus of the fourth Campus Expert Talk.
At the joint invitation of Leuphana and the Lüneburg-Wolfsburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHKLW), around 50 invited experts from business, science and other institutions came together in the central building to discuss forward-looking transformation processes.
Various aspects of economic transformation were the focus of an evening dinner dialog: The focus was on the resilience of supply chains, the use of artificial intelligence for innovation processes and the emergence of new work cultures. The participants discussed specific approaches and challenges in curated discussion rounds.
IHKLW Vice President Dr. Rüdiger Kühl emphasized the value of the event series:
"The Campus Expert Talk is a strong format for open exchange between practice and research - and thus an important driver for the further development of our regional economy. The world of work is under massive pressure to change. In order to remain competitive, we need to act faster, more courageously and in a more networked way. The close collaboration between companies and universities is a decisive factor for success."
Prof. Dr. Markus Reihlen, Vice President of Leuphana for the Professional School, Internationalization, Entrepreneurship and Transfer, also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation:
"Leuphana sees itself as an active part of the region - and as a bridge between science, business and society. We firmly believe that the major challenges of our time can only be solved together: through dialog, through creative and well-trained minds, through strategic alliances - and through an open, collaborative exchange of knowledge and ideas."
This is not about radical breaks, but about a new combination of existing approaches, as Reihlen went on to explain:
"‘Rethinking business’ does not mean overturning everything - but combining things differently. It means reconnecting the existing, allowing new things to happen, embracing complexity and working together to find solutions."
With the Campus Expert Talk, the organizers are pursuing the goal of further intensifying cooperation between regional businesses and universities through dialogue, initiating joint innovation projects and thus sustainably strengthening Lüneburg's position as a business and science location - especially in times of profound change.
