Invitation and registration

Who receives an invitation?

The invitations for the graduation ceremony will be sent digitally to the student e-mail addresses by the beginning of May (graduation ceremony June) or by the beginning of October (graduation ceremony November). All graduates who have demonstrably completed their studies by April 30 (June graduation ceremony) or September 30 (November graduation ceremony) will be invited. In this case, verifiable means that all grades have been registered with the Examination Office by the relevant date and that all credit points required for graduation have thus been achieved.

I have not received an invitation!

If you regret not receiving an invitation but have completed all required services, please contact us at graduiertenfeier@leuphana.de.

How are the invitations sent out?

Invitations will be sent digitally to student email addresses.

Registration information?

Registration for the Graduate Celebration takes place via our ticketing partner Xing.

With your invitation, which we send to your student email address, you will find the link to the Xing portal. With your personal access code, which is included in the invitation email, you can purchase tickets for the different program points of the day.

Please note that you are registering for the event section indicated on your invitation card.

Due to limited room capacity, a limited number of spaces for accompanying persons will be available for all graduates for each program item. For additional accompanying persons, please contact graduiertenfeier@leuphana.de to have them added to our waiting list. We will allocate the remaining places after the registration deadline. The registration deadline is always two weeks prior to the event - for the November 2022 graduation ceremony, this is Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 10pm. No further registrations can be made after this time, and this also applies to additional accompanying persons. We ask you for timely and binding registration.

Are there fees for the events?

The daytime program, i.e. the central graduation ceremony and the decentralized awarding of certificates, are free events. Admission to the ball is 18 euros in advance and at the box office. If all tickets have already been sold in advance via Xing, no further tickets will be available at the box office.

How can I change or cancel my registration?

Cancellation as well as exchange of the tickets takes place, like the registration, via Xing. You will receive information about this on the Xing website after purchasing the ticket.

My access code is no longer working!

Please send  an e-mail to Graduiertenfeier@leuphana.de. Be sure to include your access code in your e-mail.

I forgot to buy ball tickets when I registered!

If capacity permits, there will be a separate online store for ball tickets only. You can still purchase tickets here if you missed this in the registration process. You will receive information on this at the appropriate time by e-mail to your student e-mail address.

Why can I only take a limited number of accompanying persons?

Due to capacity, we are unable to provide graduates with an unlimited number of accompanying persons. If you would like to bring additional people to the event, please contact us at graduiertenfeier@leuphana.de to have them added to our waiting list. If there are still spaces available after the registration deadline, we will get back to you in a timely manner. We ask for your understanding.

One or more of my companions have changed or are not coming after all

This is not a problem. Simply register with your new companion at the entrance to the relevant part of the event. As long as the number of people accompanying you does not change, no further action is required in advance. If, contrary to expectations, you arrive with fewer accompanying persons than registered, please send us a short email to Graduiertenfeier@leuphana.de so that we can free up places for people on the waiting list

Day program

What happens at the central graduation ceremony?

In addition to the president and the management of the college or the Graduate School and the Professional School, a prominent keynote speaker as well as students and the speakers of the AStA will give speeches and honor the graduates with outstanding achievements during the respective central ceremony. The honors will be based on final grades as well as registration for the festivities. The current program can be found here.

What happens during the decentralized testimonial?

The decentralized graduation ceremonies of the faculties or the degree programs take place in the afternoon on campus. A ceremonial awarding of certificates takes place as part of each of these. The organizers of the decentralized celebrations are responsible for the supporting program. You can find out where and when your decentralized ceremony will take place here in the current schedule.

Graduate Ball

Is there a charge for the Graduate Ball (even for graduates)?

Yes, there is a charge for all participants to attend the Graduate Ball. The admission price in November 2022 is 18 euros. The event will take place in the evening in the Libeskind Building.

This event offers you the opportunity to celebrate the completion of your studies together with your former fellow students* in a festive atmosphere. As this is an offer with additional effort and costs, the event is financially self-supporting through the tickets sold. The ticket prices are calculated in such a way that the event does not generate a profit for the university.

Will there be a box office for the ball?

If the ticket contingent has not yet been exhausted via the online bookings, there will be the opportunity to purchase remaining tickets on site. However, this possibility is by no means guaranteed. We therefore strongly recommend that all those who wish to be sure of gaining access purchase their tickets online in good time to avoid disappointment.

Will card payments be available on site?

No. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer card payments. Please also note that there are currently no cash machines on campus. It is therefore essential that you bring enough cash with you!

If capacity permits, there will be a separate online store for ball tickets only. This store will then also be open to all non-graduates. You will receive information about this at the appropriate time by e-mail to your student e-mail address.

Arrival by bus

In the evening when buses are no longer running (after 9:00pm), the ASM ride-share service is available, which brings Leuphana students to their destination until 1:00 AM on workdays and Saturday nights/Sunday mornings until 3:00 AM for a reduced fare. You need to call in your desired destination to the ASM-dispatcher at least 30 minutes before the planned departure time. The phone number is +49.4131.533.44. The rates, schedules and drop-off locations are listed on the ASM-website.

Arrival by car

While on-campus parking is limited, public transportation in Lüneburg is excellent. Our three Leuphana campuses are very well connected to Lüneburg’s bus and railway network. Join in the Leuphana spirit of a sustainable campus and contribute to environmental protection by using the local transportation network or a bicycle.
A bicycle is the most popular means of transport on and to the campus. In front of each building and lecture hall are bicycle stands, and there is Kon-RAD, a student-run repair shop. On-campus, at the railway station and in the city you will find Stadt-RAD (Sharing Concept) bikes.

University Campus

  • From the South: Take the federal highway A7 Hannover-Hamburg until you reach the Soltau-Ost exit, from there take state highway 209 to Lüneburg.   From there, follow the road signs to the university campus.
  • From the North: Take the A39 Hamburg-Lüneburg highway and then go onto the eastern by-pass until the Lüneburg-Häcklingen exit. Then follow the road signs to the university campus.
