Funding programmes

An idea is a good start to an innovation. But a brilliant idea alone is often not enough. Sufficient resources are also needed to reach the goal. In order to effectively support the potential of good ideas, the European Union, the federal government and the state of Lower Saxony have set up a series of funding programmes. These programmes enable cooperation between science and practice to find effective solutions to pressing issues and challenges.

The European Union provides universities of applied sciences, universities or non-university research institutions with grants for the establishment or expansion of a research infrastructure through the ERDF funding programme. This also applies to innovative and application-orientated cooperation projects with regional companies. The aim of the ERDF is to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union by eliminating inequalities between the various regions.

The European Union uses the ESF to support universities and adult education institutions. The aim of the programme is to open up universities to non-traditional students and those interested in further education. Furthermore, people who finish their studies early without a degree are to be supported in the transition from university to a professional qualification.
