Future Foyer: Remaining Humanistic – Dialogue in Politically Charged Times
15. Jan
How does a humanistic perspective enable dialogue in polarizing times? And what role do artistic research and practice play in this? These questions will be addressed by the Leuphana Innovation Community Art and Culture in the Future Foyer on January 15, 2026, at the Theater Lüneburg.
Lüneburg actors Elisa Reining and Christoph Vetter read from the texts I Shall Not Hate by Palestinian writer Izzeldin Abuelaish and How to Remain Humanistic After a Massacre in 17 Steps by Israeli author Maya Arad Yasur. In the subsequent discussion, author and journalist Charlotte Wiedemann will talk about the potential of humanistic attitudes, empathy, and art as a catalyst for dealing with social divisions. Central to this are the spaces for dialogue that are created through scientific and artistic practice. They enable us to build bridges and counteract social polarization.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
As part of the Zukunftsfoyer event series, the classic theater foyer is transformed into an experimental space for forward-looking discussions, concepts, and new perspectives. A joint initiative of Theater Lüneburg and the Leuphana Innovation Community Art and Culture, the series invites experts from research and practice to examine challenges and transformations in the cultural sector.
The theater serves as a place for collaborative knowledge production, where theory and practice meet in the heart of the city and exciting conversations arise—as a foyer for the future.
Admission is free and the bar in the theater foyer is open.
