Leuphana remains one of the top start-up universities

2023-02-17 Lüneburg/Berlin. Leuphana University Lüneburg is one of the most successful start-up universities in Germany. This is the result of the "Gründungsradar 2022" of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft. In a nationwide comparison, it currently ranks 13th among medium-sized universities, making Leuphana one of the most successful of the 76 universities with 5,001 to 15,000 students compared in this category and once again taking the top spot in Lower Saxony.

The start-up radar attests to Leuphana's very good performance in the areas of start-up qualification and start-up support, in which it was able to gain points compared to previous surveys. Overall, the result underlines that topics such as start-ups and entrepreneurship are firmly anchored in the university's teaching, research and transfer. Targeted offers in start-up and innovation consulting combined with comprehensive qualification programmes and training courses promote interest and activities in start-ups at Leuphana.

Leuphana's involvement in the "Startup Port" joint project of the Hamburg metropolitan region acts as a beacon here. This project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection and co-financed at Leuphana by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, bundles the start-up support activities of seven universities and other research institutions from Lower Saxony, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Within the framework of this networking, Leuphana provides its founders with cross-university access to even more start-up-relevant knowledge, additional services and further resources in the entire Hamburg metropolitan region.

In the future, Leuphana wants to further promote the networking of researchers, students, start-up advisors and established companies by expanding its spatial infrastructure. This will strengthen its interdisciplinary profile in the key areas of digital, cultural, social and sustainable entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship communities enable the exchange and collaboration of active and potential founders and offer support in the implementation of their ideas.

Background:
