At the scaling workshop at the Körber Foundation in Hamburg, new approaches to scaling social innovations will be developed.

How do you actually scale social innovations effectively? With this question, the Leuphana Social Innovation Community generated a great deal of interest at the Social Entrepreneurship Forum Hamburg. In the premises of the Körber Foundation directly on the Elbe, many interested parties developed scaling potentials for four different innovations in a workshop led by Leuphana employee Robert Hoyer.

In addition to entirely new startup ideas addressing topics such as social inclusion for senior citizens, established concepts like Dialogue in the Dark were also reimagined. Participants learned that scaling social innovations can indeed be challenging through a theoretical input enriched with insights from academic research. Using a canvas, they took on the challenge and, in small groups, developed new and innovative scaling strategies. One key learning: social change is often an interactive process. It requires collaborative work and collective action rather than the efforts of a lone creative individual. At the end, the groups presented the ideas and outcomes of this collective effort, demonstrating how much potential these innovations hold!

With this, the Leuphana Social Innovation Community contributed to an inspiring program at the forum, where social enterprises, the city, and many other societal actors discussed the future of social entrepreneurship in the metropolitan region. We’re already looking forward to the next forum and until then, we’ll continue working to make social innovations even more impactful.
