The Honorary Consul started with a brief introduction to the key theme of his lecture: hidden champions in business. In his view, this is not a title that you can buy or work towards. Instead, it is the product of a long history of business success such as that of the BAADER Group, which is currently the global market leader and serves the top 10 of worldwide customers. The Honorary Consul also spoke about long-term expansion plans, the relevance of the future markets of Asia (in particular China) and Africa, employee retention and recruiting the right qualified personnel.

Kourosh Pourkian was born in 1952 to the Iranian notary and author Human Pourkian. He came to Germany in 1974 and studied business administration in Hamburg, specialising in business information systems, industry and business research. He is the CEO of the Pourkian Group as well as Strategy Manager and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Lübeck-based BAADER Group. In September 2013, Kourosh Pourkian was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Tajikistan for the States of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Honorary Consul Kourosh Pourkian is married to Honorary Consul Petra Baader and is the father of three children.
