Sustainable Production - Dialogue on the Day of German Unity 2023

2023-10-02

For most of us, sustainable production means manufacturing goods in a way that conserves resources and interferes as little as possible with the environment's ability to regenerate. But what exactly are the possibilities of sustainable production processes and what do you need to consider when selecting materials? The Innovation Community Sustainable Production and its project partner Hereon took up these topics to engage with visitors on the Day of German Unity 2023 in Hamburg.

With a stall on Ballindamm directly on the Inner Alster, scientific employees of the project were on site on October 2nd and 3rd, 2023 to show their presence as a community. The aim was to engage in dialogue with event participants at the large event site, which ran through the entire city center. The focus was on scientific issues relating to sustainable production and manufacturing technology, as well as creating new impetus. The event setting made it possible to talk to various different people, which was a great stimulus for discussion. These included a number of engineers with whom conversations were held about the advantages and disadvantages of lightweight materials. In particular, the potential of magnesium components in mobility applications was discussed and illustrated using a demonstrator. In the conversations, the community received positive feedback, both for the stall and the content of discussions.
