Students win "Prize for Digital Togetherness" at Digital Day 2021

2021-06-28 The Lüneburg Mitwirk-O-Mat, a web application developed by students Felix Englisch and Jonas Schröder from the initiative "Lebendiges Lüneburg", wins the "Prize for Digital Togetherness", endowed with 10,000€, in the category "Digital Engagement". The prize is awarded by the initiative "Digital for All", an alliance of 27 partner organisations that want to promote digital participation. The student project succeeded against more than 300 competitors.

Volunteering with children or with adults? Planning cultural events or demonstrations? The Mitwirk-O-Mat facilitates access to local involvement by finding suitable associations and initiatives in Lüneburg and the surrounding area for users. A year ago, Felix Englisch and Jonas Schröder developed the web application, whose functionality is based on the principle of the Wahl-O-Mat of the Federal Agency for Civic Education. Both are part of the initiative "Lebendiges Lüneburg" (Living Lüneburg), which is committed to networking Lüneburg's local groups and was already awarded the Leuphana Prize for Student Engagement in 2020.

The "Prize for Digital Togetherness" was awarded on the occasion of Digitaltag on 18 June 2021. A ten-member jury around Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner and Heinrich Bedford-Strohm selected the winners. The student project wants to use the prize money to expand the tool to include more cities.
