18 Nov

How can theaters and cultural venues become open gathering places for everyone? The Leuphana Innovation Community for Art and Culture will discuss this topic at the next future foyer event on November 18 at the Theater Lüneburg.

What you can expect

The theme of this “Future Foyer” event is: “Cultural Spaces as Third Places?”

Taking the theater foyer as our starting point, we’ll explore the question of how cultural institutions and venues can become open spaces—places that go beyond their traditional cultural functions to create opportunities for encounter, exchange, and participation. What does it take for such spaces to open up? What organizational and structural changes are necessary for this? And how can processes of opening up be shaped in concrete terms?

Together with Jonas Zipf (Kulturfabrik Kampnagel), Andrea Kabasci (Lüneburg Cultural Committee), Andrea Ortiz (mosaique-Haus der Kulturen e.V.) and Prof. Dr. Volker Kirchberg (Leuphana), we want to explore these questions, bring different perspectives into dialogue, and reflect on how cultural venues can become vibrant meeting places for diverse people and ideas. The panel will be moderated by Friedrich von Mansberg (Artistic Director of Theater Lüneburg).

The series future foyer

As part of the future foyer event series, the traditional theater lobby is transformed into a space for experimentation, fostering forward-looking discussions, concepts, and new perspectives. As a joint initiative of the Theater Lüneburg and the Leuphana Innovation Community for Art and Culture, the series invites experts from research and practice to examine challenges and transformations in the cultural sector. At previous future foyer events, participants discussed inclusion and diversity, culture and care, as well as humanistic perspectives on politically charged times.
