Opportunities for Students

Leuphana University of Lüneburg promotes the international mobility of its students in all phases of their studies, i.e. stays abroad are supported both during the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. The aim is to enable at least half of all students to gain study-related experience abroad during their studies at Leuphana.

Leuphana University offers exchange programs at partner universities in Europe (Erasmus+) and worldwide for students of all study programs. In addition, almost every university worldwide accepts visiting students ("free mover").

All the university's student exchange programs, including the Erasmus mobility programs, are organised by the International Center. The International Center supports participants in these programs as well as students who wish to study or do an internship abroad outside these programs from the initial planning to the start of their stay abroad as well as during their stay abroad and after their return to Leuphana. Our information on this website is supplemented by individual and group counselling as well as topic-specific information events and workshops.

For further information, sign up for our newsletter "International Center" via myStudy and follow us on our social media channels:

The campaign “studieren weltweit - ERLEBE ES!” by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a good introduction to the topic: students who are currently on a stay abroad (study, internship, language course) report on studieren-weltweit.de as correspondents in personal blog posts and in social networks about their experiences and share information on organising and financing study-related stays abroad.

Become a Buddy

Are you looking for international contacts but don't want to wait for a semester abroad? As a buddy, you will support international students from our partner universities who are spending one or two semesters or their entire degree program at Leuphana. You will help them to get started at Leuphana and in Lüneburg. Send an email to buddy@leuphana.de with your full name, email address, your phone number (if you wish) and any countries or languages you are interested in.

Most international students arrive at the beginning of March (for the summer semester) or the beginning of September (for the winter semester) and take part in the language and orientation program. Ideally, you should be in Lüneburg during the first week of March or the first week of September. If this is not the case, please let us know in your email when you will be back in Lüneburg.

The International Center will also issue a certificate for participation in the Buddy Program if required. The prerequisite for this is participation in four buddy-related events and a short report on your experiences. Participation is not limited to one semester.
