Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programs (BIP)
Together with at least two other universities from Erasmus program countries, universities can develop so-called Blended Intensive Programs (BIPs), which are eligible for funding under Erasmus+. BIPs consist of a short in-person group mobility period (5–30 days) and a mandatory virtual phase for students, the duration of which is not specified. Funded students should be able to earn at least 3 ECTS credits that contribute toward their degree.
At Leuphana, only BIPs that take place at partner universities are eligible for funding. Depending on the target group, the International Center provides information about BIP offerings via Instagram (@leuphanainternational) or through newsletters for individual degree programs. In some cases, a BIP is already integrated into a Leuphana module. These are typically five-day courses.
Participating students receive funding from their home university as follows, provided sufficient Erasmus funds are available:
- Scholarship funds for the physical stay: 5 – 14 days = €79/day, 15 – 30 days = €56/day,
- Travel allowance (amount varies depending on distance and mode of transportation)
- Daily allowance for up to 2 travel days (standard travel) or up to 6 travel days (sustainable modes of transportation)
- Additional top-ups, if applicable, for individuals with disabilities
