Getting into a doctorate

Welcome to the Leuphana Graduate School – this is where your academic future begins!

Are you interested in pursuing a doctorate, keen to conduct research on topics that matter, and to be part of a strong scientific community? Then the Graduate School is the right place for you: as the central institution for academic qualification, we are your point of contact for all matters relating to your doctorate:  we support early-career researchers with personalised advice, expert knowledge and a strong network.

As every doctorate is a unique process, we offer various routes to a doctoral degree. For example, have you ever considered starting your doctoral research whilst studying your Master’s degree? If so, our Doctoral Track-program could be just the thing for you!

What are the key benefits of pursuing a doctorate at Leuphana?

The doctoral research groups: If you are pursuing a doctorate at Leuphana, you will always be part of a doctoral research group – an (inter)disciplinary group comprising fellow doctoral researchers and supervising professors. Here, you will conduct research, engage in discussion and explore ideas together.

The doctoral courses: The various modules of the doctoral courses are specifically designed to support you on your journey towards a doctoral degree. They will help you to refine your research ideas, develop your methodological skills and shape your role as a researcher.

The career support: Generous research funding for conference attendance and research stays, together with an extensive range of workshops for careers both within and outside academia, prepare you for entering the job market, develop an individual career and help you build a network within the scientific community.

The Graduate Community: We value networking and exchange. That’s why we offer you a space for meeting others and collaborating, a wide range of networking events and plenty of opportunities to get involved.
