Scholarships for Master's students and doctoral candidates

Funding - Financing - Scholarships

A scholarship is one of the ways to finance your Master's or doctoral studies at Leuphana Graduate School. In Germany alone, over 2,000 scholarship providers support the education and research of students and doctoral candidates.

On our website, we present the Landesstipendium (scholarship of the state of Lower Saxony), the Deutschlandstipendium, the scholarships of the 13 major organisations that promote young talent in Germany and scholarships offered by Leuphana itself. However, please do not hesitate to find out more about funding opportunities for your academic qualification!

The scholarship funding allows students and doctoral candidate to fully focus on their Master's or doctoral studies.

Master's scholarships

As a scholarship holder in a Master's programme at Leuphana, you will not only receive financial support, but you can also often benefit from numerous other support services provided by the scholarship providers, foundations and funding organisations.

For the Master's programme  in International Law of Security, Peace and Sustainable Development (ILSPSD) the EU support students with full scholarships as part of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programme grants. On the website of the ILSPSD consortium you can find more informations on the scholarships and the degree programme itself. The application window for the scholarships is open now up to and including 1 February 2026.

PhD Scholarships

As a doctoral candidate, you are primarily eligible for funding from the organisations that promote young talent at Leuphana.

An overview of the funding organisations, including their political or confessional orientation and liaison lecturers, can be found on this page:
