Care Concentration Gap
People with caregiving responsibilities encounter specific obstacles that make it difficult for them to immerse themselves in deep concentration phases – even when they have the physical time to do so. Mothers*, who bear a large part of the mental and emotional load both in their family and professional lives, are particularly affected by this. In this lecture, Dr. Wiebke Vogelaar will show, among other things, which structural conditions create this gap – and how it simultaneously reinforces existing inequalities in academia. The question of how care work and focus spaces can be better combined will also be addressed.
The event is aimed at researchers with significant care responsibilities.
