Let's talk Karriere: From Academia to Industry

The “Let’s Talk Career” series invites alumni with doctoral degrees to discuss entering the workforce outside of academia and the pivotal moments in their career journeys. To offer a broader range of opportunities and perspectives, we regularly collaborate with other universities: “Let’s Talk Career Meets…” is a joint initiative of the graduate schools at the universities of Clausthal, Jena, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Münster, and Lüneburg. The Alumni Talk at Friedrich Schiller University Jena explores career paths in industry:

Are you thinking about leaving academia after completing your PhD or postdoc? You are not alone. The majority of PhD candidates do not stay in academia for their entire career. In this talk, three STEM alumni, who have successfully transitioned from academia to a career in industry, will share their experiences. They will give valuable advice on job hunting and application processes, career development and working outside of academia.

Panel:

• Dr. Ann-Sophie Lehnert did her PhD in chemistry and works as a product manager at Analytik Jena.
• Dr. Sophie Patze did her PhD in physical chemistry and works as a project manager at Bayer.
• Dr. Aman Anand did his PhD in photovoltaics and works as project manager at Jenoptik.
