Implementing Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a Research Associate

[CAREER FORUM] In this forum, speaker Daniel Eckert will provide insights into his work as a research Associate at the office of the Hamburg Sustainability Forum (part of the Michael Otto Environmental Foundation), which, as a civil society watchdog, monitors and supports the process of implementing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

You’ll learn what the pursuit and implementation of the SDGs actually look like in Hamburg, what tasks and challenges are involved in the work of a foundation—including coordinating a diverse network of NGOs—and what skills are needed to stay on course even in the face of controversies and conflicting goals.

Daniel Eckert studied political science at the University of Leipzig and earned a master’s degree in sustainability studies from Leuphana University; he has previously held various roles dealing with German, European, and international climate and sustainability policy. A particular focus of his work has been on climate justice and socio-ecological transformation processes.
