High demand for master's programmes at Leuphana
2025-07-29 Lüneburg. With more than 500 applications for 30 places, the Master's programme in Management and Data Science at Leuphana University of Lüneburg achieved a record high, making it the most sought-after programme at the Graduate School. By July, Leuphana had received a total of around 2,500 applications for its 16 consecutive Master's programmes excluding teacher training, an increase of almost 20 percent over the previous year. The application phase for the four Master of Education programmes runs until 15 August.
Leuphana Graduate School is offering a total of 22 master's programmes for the coming winter semester. The subjects covered range from management, sustainability sciences and cultural studies to political science and teacher training. Due to high demand, most of the programmes on offer are already fully booked. For some programmes, including International Business Law, Resources, Materials and Chemistry in Sustainability Science, and specialisations in cultural studies such as media and digital cultures, the university has extended the application deadline to 31 August.
Unlike other universities, Leuphana does not only consider bachelor's degree grades for admission to some master's programmes. Additional criteria such as selection interviews, successful scholarship applications, elected offices or international experience are also evaluated with additional points. In the end, the best candidates in the ranking are admitted up to a certain point limit.
