Hamburg: Democracy in School

08. May

No one is born a democrat. We therefore need appropriate experiential spaces to learn and live democracy. And there is no better place to experience this than at school. Because this is where society meets in all its diversity.

Democracy in School: On May 8th, a democracy workshop takes place in the Marie-Beschütz school in Hamburg.

What participants can expect

As part of the pedagogical anniversary on May 8, the staff of the Marie Beschütz School work together on the school's core values in order to anchor democracy even more firmly in the school. Not only in its mission statement, but consistently in all structures.

A Lego® Serious Play® workshop led by Hariet Schellig and Dennis Wohlfeil (Leuphana) will kick things off in order to make the different ideas of democracy and their implementation in the school visible to the staff.
The results then serve as a basis for the design of various measures throughout the school. The Marie-Beschütz School is thus taking on a pioneering role in its development into a democratic school, making it a role model for our community. We are looking forward to the day and hope for many more actions in the community on this important topic!
