Why bother learning? Bob Blume visits Leuphana University
21. Nov
“Why bother learning? What school should look like in times of AI, crises, and social injustice.” Under this title, the literature office Lüneburg, together with the Leuphana Innovation Community School Development and Leadership, invites you to a reading and panel discussion with the author Bob Blume.
Why do most students feel that they have not learned anything relevant at school? How can it be that the majority of what they learn is forgotten? How can it be that educational success in Germany still depends on the family home? And how can the question of equal opportunities be answered in a system that sorts students into different types of schools at an early age? Teacher and education influencer Bob Blume says: We need to be clear about why we learn in the 21st century. This “why” must be at the heart of education. Only then can learning be fulfilling and meaningful. He formulates a clear vision for the school of the future and shows that a common understanding of education and learning is the only way out of the educational crisis. To achieve this, the education system must change from the ground up.
In a subsequent panel discussion, Bob Blume talks to Prof. Dr. Simone Abels, Leuphana, about what it takes to meet the current challenges in the education system. The evening will be moderated by Spiegel education editor and author Silke Fokken.
