The Research Group Methodology and Evaluation Research (Prof. Wallot) at the Institute of Sustainability Psychology is seeking to appoint a
Research Assistant / Studentische Hilfskrafte (SHK)
(with or without Bachelor’s degree)
to support
laboratory work in experimental psychology and administrative tasks
with around 4 to 8 hours per week, starting February 15, 2026.
Our research group uses methods such as eye-tracking, EEG, reaction time measurements, and motion capture, as well as time series analysis methods originating from dynamical systems theory, to study the relationship between reading process measures (such as word reading times or eye movements) and text comprehension. Another research focus is on joint-action, where we look at how (a-)synchrony and coordination between participants is related to task performance.

Your tasks:
- Recruitment of participants.
- Data collection for psychological studies on reading, joint action, and other topics in general and cognitive psychology using methods such as eye-tracking, EEG, reaction time measurements, or online surveys.
- Assistance with implementing experimental designs in Open Sesame.
- Assistance with administrative tasks.
Your profile:
- You work independently, reliably, and conscientiously.
- You demonstrate a high level of initiative and commitment.
- You are available for at least one year, preferably longer.
- You are proficient in English (proficiency in German is not a requirement but an advantage).
- You are willing to learn how to operate an eye-tracking or EEG system; previous experience with one of those methods is an advantage.
- Experience with coding (R, Python), data analysis and statistical methods is an advantage.
Depending on prior qualification, the successful applicant will receive an hourly salary of 13,98€ (without Bachelor’s degree) or 14,59€ (with Bachelor’s degree).
