Community Days Art and Culture 2024
TrICo goes lunatic. The Community Days of the Leuphana Innovation Community Art and Culture took place in cooperation with the lunatic festival. ‚Watch‘, ‚Participate‘ and ‚Talk‘ describe best, how the community was integrated in the campus festival and emphasized the exchange between project partners and festival visitors.
Lunatic is a student-organized music and arts festival that is held annually on the Leuphana campus as a learning project since 2004. For the Leuphana Innovation Community Art and Culture, this is a great opportunity to engage with another important stakeholder group in the project: the students. Over two days, numerous hands-on and art workshops took place at the Community for Art and Culture's stand on the festival grounds, where active members of the partner organizations DüNE, mosaique, and Halle für Kunst e.V. informed festival visitors about their offerings and provided guidance on artistic work.
The exhibition ‘Artistic Mapping’ with excerpts from the work ‘Leuphana Codex’ by artist Jazael Zapata, accompanied by a video, offered a chance to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the festival and gave interested visitors the opportunity to explore the transdisciplinary method of mapping.
But it wasn't just on the festival site that the community of art and culture appeared as a formative element; it also featured in the festival's art and culture program. In cooperation with the organizer lunatic e.V., the light installation “LUMATRIGON” by artist Josephin Böttger was realized on the central building of Leuphana. This was open to the public and, accompanied by the sounds of Felix Kubin, immersed the campus in a spherical reflection on the destruction of nature and sustainability.
A substantive, discursive impulse on stage rounded off the program. A panel discussion with artist Bernd Schulz and experts from the community arts and culture sector and Leuphana University addressed questions and challenges relating to art in public spaces, one of the focus topics of the subproject “Spaces of Art Organization” in 2024.
These were the Community Days: dynamic, diverse, and informative.
