Regular Lüneburg education conference announced
2024-11-25 "Only by joining forces can we tackle the challenges that school education faces today," stated Prof. Dr. Marcus Pietsch from Leuphana at the Lüneburg City Conference "Education in Transition" (Bildung im Wandel) on Saturday, November 23. The outcome: From now on, the Lüneburg Education Conference will regularly bring all stakeholders to the table.
The goal should be to equip all children and young people with the skills and opportunities needed to lead a fulfilling life, enabling them to actively shape both their own future and that of our society, said Education Professor Pietsch, a member of the Leuphana Innovation Community School Improvement and Leadership. He added: "I am pleased that we, as a university, can contribute to this."
On Saturday, representatives from politics, academia, and school practice came together at the City Conference to discuss the challenges and opportunities in school education. Topics ranged from the shortage of skilled staff in schools and daycare centers to legal regulations for all-day care and collaboration with external stakeholders, covering a wide spectrum of issues.
The outcome was a promising result: Together with Lüneburg’s Mayor Claudia Kalisch, Pietsch decided on Saturday to establish a regular education conference for Lüneburg. This marks a joint commitment by the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg and Leuphana University to take responsibility for the region's education landscape. Lower Saxony's Minister of Education Julia Willie Hamburg also praised this initiative, emphasizing the importance of local networking and collaboration.
