International Summer University
(ISU) August 2-29, 2019

Spend a summer on our campus to improve your German skills and make new friends. Leuphana's language and culture program, the International Summer University, helps you learn German in the minimum time possible.

This might be also an option if you cannot spend a whole semester abroad or if you want to improve your German before the start of your exchange semester.

Our courses are approved by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the scholarship programme University summer courses in Germany.

Each course comprises a total of 100 hours of instruction, corresponding to 25 hours of instruction per week. Courses range from beginner to advanced level and are eligible for credit transfer upon prior approval by your home university. You will be finally allocated to the appropriate course based on a placement test upon arrival.

In addition to the language courses we offer you many cultural events and leisure activities, which aim to give you insights into the German culture and the German way of life. The programme includes a welcome reception, a farewell party, a historical city tour, lectures on science, politics and culture, film evenings, games & sports (e.g. beach volleyball, soccer) and much more. These offers are already included in the course fee.

Weekend day trips to the nearby metropolis Hamburg, to the Hanse town Lübeck and the Baltic Sea and to the Hanse town Bremen and the North Sea will be arranged against a small fee (10-20 Euros each).

Upon request, we arrange accommodation for you in student housing.
