Student assistant position in Sustainability Sciences

The position is only open to students enrolled at Leuphana University.
The position starts in fall 2025 at the Faculty of Sustainability, Institute for Sustainable Chemistry of Renewable Organic Resources 16 to 20 hrs / month, and 6 months in total.
We study sustainability challenges in sustainable food systems, based on critical thinking to generate more resilient, regenerative, and healthier structures.
The interdisciplinary research and teaching assistant position focuses on the social and political dimensions of chemical pollution. It attends to structural inequalities and how the harmful effects of chemicals unfold along axes of injustice – including gender, race, class and disability.
Research Activities
• Literature research on the social and political dimensions of chemical pollution
Teaching Activities
• Organizational support of seminars and lectures, including on the module “Recent Advances on Sustainable Chemistry, Renewable Materials and Processes“ (in English language)
Profile
•Masters student or Bachelor student currently enrolled at Leuphana University
•Major or Minor in the social sciences and/or humanities
•Interest in environmental and social justice issues
•Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and learning
•Fluent English, and at least basic knowledge of German (B2/C1)
•Flexibility and good time management
•Ability to work in a team and independently
You will be working with Guest Professor Angeliki Balayannis. Besides 1:1 meetings, you will regularly be participating in our team meetings where we alternate discussions about each other’s work.
