Doctoral Research Group Business Psychology
With the admission to the doctoral research group our doctoral students become members of the Scientific Community. This means that they are involved in the international scientific discourse on their respective research questions from the beginning. Within the doctoral research group of psychology the doctoral students are encouraged to present their research results on national and international conferences and drive forth publications at an early stage. In this way, in the last 3 years more than 60 publications and conference contributions originated by the activities of the doctoral students. Another component of the training philosophy is to provide professional expertise by high-level external experts at summer schools and in specialist methods courses.
Within the framework of collaborations with various interest groups of the German Society of Psychology two summer schools have already been realized (“Summer School for Industrial and Organizational Psychology”, “Summer School on traffic psychology”).
Areas of Research
Most of our doctoral students are employed as academic staff in third-party funded projects.
Because of national and international networks of projects, close national contacts to the psychological institutions of the technical universities of Berlin, Brunswick and Chemnitz and the Jacobs University Bremen have been established. Intensive international contacts and cooperation agreements exist with the University of Bergen in Norway, the University of Tokyo in Japan, the Shanghai Normal University in China, various universities in Africa (including Kenyatta University, Kenia; Markerere University, Uganda) and with the US-American City University of New York, the University of Minnesota, the University of Washington (Seattle), and the University of Florida.
