"Navigating University Life in Germany for Internationals"
conducted by Intercultural Trainer Academy
As an international student, studying in Germany confronts you with new challenges. You bring your own cultural concepts with your own thought patterns and values, which may differ significantly from the culture in Germany. This can result in different challenges in your everyday life as a student and in life in Germany in general.
During this event, you will be sensitised to dealing with cultural differences in an appreciative manner and receive impulses to consciously use and strengthen your intercultural competence.
- Reflection on your own personal and cultural imprint and its effect on your way of working and living
- Dealing with ‘German’ value systems and differences in university culture (direct communication, factual orientation, dealing with hierarchy, rule-orientation, understanding of time, etc.)
- Handling cultural irritations, discussion and conflict culture, value conflicts (e.g. hierarchy, work ethics, dealing with time, team understanding)
- Strategies for a successful start to your studies in Germany
You will also get to know other international students who are just starting their studies at Leuphana and make first contacts.
We recommend this event to all Internationals to help them get off to a good start at Leuphana Graduate School. It will help you to quickly develop an understanding of the new (academic) culture in which you will be living when you start your studies.
