Information for Teachers

2026-09-01

We are delighted by the current high level of interest in our library services for school students – not least because it shows that the library continues to be an important place for schools and their students.

To help us coordinate the large number of enquiries as effectively as possible, we have compiled the most important organisational information below:

Please submit requests for library tours as early as possible so that we can take your preferred date into account, and please always arrange visits with your students with us in advance to ensure that everything runs smoothly on site. When making an enquiry, please always provide a preferred date and time slot as well as an alternative. We also require the number of students for planning purposes. Please also let us know if you would like your students to have some time for research in the library immediately after the tour. This will help us ensure, wherever possible, that all research PCs (6 in total) are available during this time.

A library card is only required to borrow books and use the Wi-Fi on site. It is not required simply to use the library. Guest accounts for using the PCs on site can be provided on the day of the tour.
→ If students would like to obtain a library card, they must complete the online registration form in advance. Students under the age of 18 additionally require the signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian. Otherwise, a library card cannot be issued. Students must also present a valid identity card and pay a one-time processing fee of €5.

The library tours are physical tours of the library and last approximately 30 minutes. To support students with research for their research paper, we have developed a research guide specifically for school students. In addition, our “Facharbeit meets Bib” Zoom session takes place once a month. In addition to a virtual 360° tour of the library, the session includes an introduction to researching literature using our LUX search engine. If you would prefer an individual session during one of your lessons, we would be happy to arrange this by email.

Depending on available space and staff capacity, we also offer a limited number of extended library introductions including research basics (approx. 3 hours, including a self-study phase). Please note that these can only be offered to entire year groups and at certain times (primarily outside the lecture period). They therefore require a certain degree of flexibility in terms of scheduling and cannot always be accommodated. As these sessions also require more planning, please contact us as far in advance as possible.

Extensive construction work is currently taking place on campus, so please allow additional time for your journey. An overview of the areas currently affected by construction and alternative routes, as well as further information, can be found on the page for teachers.

All enquiries can be sent to the following email address: bib-fuehrung@leuphana.de.

Thank you very much for your support!
