VPN access
A VPN connection allows your computer encrypted, tap-proof access to the Leuphana university network. All you need is a computer with access to the internet at home. With the help of a VPN tunnel, university staff can access resources that would otherwise only be available within the campus network from anywhere.
Why do I need VPN access?
Licensing or security regulations restrict the use of certain documents or electronic offers to PCs and smartphones located within the Leuphana data network. For example, e-books, databases or university internal web forms can only be viewed at your workplace. However, virtual private network (VPN) technology extends access to all devices connected to the internet by creating an encrypted tunnel for registered users through the open internet. The procedure meets high security requirements and is therefore used, among others, by banks.
Installing the VPN software (Cisco AnyConnect)
Use your internet browser to connect to the VPN server:
Select the relevant access variant (group).
- Intranet (access to the campus network)
- Online research (use world-wide licensed offers from the library)
Then, log in using your Leuphana account credentials. A Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client that is compatible with your system will now be installed.
If the selection list of available VPN connections is empty after installation, type in "vpn.leuphana.de" manually.
